Responsible Travel Costa Rica Eco-Friendly Vacation

Costa Rica Sunset

Vacations are a wonderful way to enjoy life and de-stress from a busy job.  However, with the economy on everyone’s mind as well as global warming, it seems that vacations are the first thing to go.   I just recently stumbled upon one vacation to Costa Rica on ResponsibleTravel.com that not only is great for a tight budget but also helps to reduce to carbon footprint that so many of us are concerned with.

The trip sounds amazing and I am highly tempted to book this for our next vacation.  For under $600 (not including airfare and food) you get 10 pre-planned days through the breathtaking jungles, pristine beaches, awe-inspiring volcanoes and get to see staggering quantities of wildlife.  Costa Rica has devoted 25% of it’s landmass to national parks and reserves.  This huge amount of land provides a perfect backdrop in which to observe animals in their natural and undisturbed environment.

Along with being a part of a tour that donates money to Climate Friendly to offset carbon emissions made by the tour, it also utilizes local people and the environment of the country.  Here’s a small excerpt from their site:

On this trip you will be lead by an experienced local leader passionate about their country’s history, heritage and natural beauty that will help you to get ‘under the skin’ of their country and see it through the eyes of a local. This trip stays at locally run accommodations, we eat at local restaurants and travel on local transport. This ensures the financial return to the local economy, opens up training and employment opportunities and allows for informal and meaningful interaction between our travelers and local people.

I have always wanted to visit Central America and this trip will not only save money but is actively helping the environment.  I would definately call this Responsible Travel.
